Electrochromic technology uses a controlled electrical signal to change the optical properties of a lens.

When a low voltage is applied, ions move within ultra-thin functional layers, changing the amount of visible light transmitted through the lens. This allows the tint to shift quickly between lighter and darker states.

Unlike photochromic lenses, the change does not depend on sunlight or UV exposure. Tint is adjusted electronically, only when initiated by the wearer.
